We know everything going on lately in the world and especially the US has been pretty terrifying lately, to say the least. Whether it’s the constant stream of human rights violations, illegal tariffs, infuriating our neighbors and allies, or whatever latest fresh horrors spewing from our mad wanna-be-dictator, this is a moment in history that none of us wanted to live. We are scared. And we have chosen to fight back, and use whatever voice we have to sound the alarm. We will not be silenced.
And at least we can channel our outrage into our work; making these shades has been a catharsis, and a colorful record of our passions and fears. Doom Loop was born in chaos, and forged in defiance.

That’s not because we want to outsource—it’s because no one in the U.S. makes these materials at the scale, quality, or innovation level that our formulas demand.
Reproducing that capability here would require billions in infrastructure, specialized equipment, and decades of technical knowledge—and that’s just not realistic for indie businesses or even most domestic suppliers.
This administration’s reckless tariff policies have made our costs unpredictable and our planning impossible. We have no idea what we’ll be charged when our supplies arrive—every shipment is now a gamble. And that volatility doesn’t hit billion-dollar corporations—it hits us: small, LGBTQIA+ and Latino makers trying to stay afloat.
We are all part of a global economy. Free trade has always been part of what made the U.S. dynamic, creative, and economically powerful. These shortsighted trade wars aren’t helping workers—they’re destroying the innovation and access that actually made this country great.
